Sunroof Question - 1990 FC3S GTU

So I'm going through this car that I just received from my dad and checking all the items I'll need to replace for the resto. I checked the sunroof buttons which are obviously connected to a motor, as I can hear it activating. However, I cant see what it's actually doing. The sunroof, which is all metal, doesn't move. Also, the motor spins indefinitely both ways.

Has anyone experienced this before?

This sounds like the cables which connect the motor to the panel assembly are either disconnected or snapped. Have you tried cranking it manually with a hex key? I believe the correct size is 6mm, but I may be mistaken.

I’ll try this and let you know how it goes. Car should arrive via transport in a week or two. Having it shipped to my house to begin the resto.

Thank you for the suggestion!!
