Hello, I recently came across a 82 Rx-7 that appears to be in decent shape, but the owner says the rear end gears are stripped. I am wondering what my options would be to fix the problem, I saw the gears on the mazdatrix site, but am wondering if there are any other possibilities. Do any other vehicles have similar rear ends or are there any uninvovled axle swaps, because as i understand it these cars have live rear axle. I wouldn't have a large budget for this, so I am trying to assess the feasibility of the project. I also would plan on doing the work myself and am not very confident in my abilities to swap rear gears. Any thoughts?

 

Just pick up some used parts from the classifieds section on the forum. With some minor changes, axels swap between 1st gen models fairly easily.

 

That or Craigslist ....I got a few 1st Gen parts in the area ppl always selling round here.
