Starting problems
Hello all,
Once again I have ran into another problem. Last night I took my 87 N/a (126K miles, 5 speed) to work. All is good and fine. I get in it 7 hrs later, cranks, cranks, cranks, but no fire. Sounds normal cranking, no jerking while cranking.
Everytime its trying to start the speedo needle is jumping a little. Normal?
I was looking around the motor, now I do not know what these vacuum lines I am looking at are and for. They are in front and a little below the BAC, has numberous vacuum lines running in and out of them. There is a blue plug on the front one, and I think its a yellow on the other. Someone I know guessed and called it the solonoid valve assembly, or something like that. Is this correct and what it is used for? On the front one (blue plug. It looks like it is missing a hose and where the hose goes into the back of the plug, there maybe was a nipple that attached the vacuum like to it, but the nipple is broken off and I cannot get a new hose on it.
Looks like this but my front plug is blue
Would this prevent me from starting?
I got it started finally anyhow it was really flooded as I pulled the egi, and egi injector fuse, cranked and cranked till almost a dead battery. Put them back in and it started and smoked really bad (huge cloud) for at least 2 minutes then was fine. Drove home, parked it, and it started just fine....
After I got it started there was a constant beeping inside the car. Just 1 beep every second or 2. It has gone away since I drove it home.
So to my question, how would it just go flooded? Runs and starts fine now. And what is that vacuum system I am referring to?
Thanks a lot all, and this forum is a great help. I never would have done the proper deflood without the site. I sat here for hrs today reading and reading and the info on the site so helped.

check the FAQ(frequently asked questions) On top of this Section to Find the "beeping Codes"
The beeping is a Warning sensor.Which one depends on what you are Hearing..1 beep,2 beeps,.5 beeps..etc.
OH,there are BEEPS and BUZZes ..a Buzzing occurs when you hit "redline"..For example.
so you should distinguish what you are hearing to Research it.

You might want to get some new plugs, it's pretty easy to foul them out and cause lots of issues.

Well a week ago the hose that comes out of the back bac (towards the firewall) came off. Noticed it a mile away from home. The car did not overheat though. It made it to 3/4 mark on temp gauge. Replaced coolant and a new thermostat, it was stuck open after that. But has since been fine for the last week or so.
Its not beeping now, starts now fine and on first try.
I think I will replace the plugs anyways as I haven't since I bought it a month ago.
I'm just wondering now what that vacuum hose does and it is not attached now as the previous owner apparently snapped of where the hose attaches.
If it will help, I can take a picture of the exactly where the hose was and where it attaches.

So from looking at the pic in that manual of what is broken, it is the releif solenoid valve that has the broken attachment for the hose. What is this used for and waht problems can happen if this vacuum hose is not attached?
It says "controls relief valve"
I am new to the rx, what does this do and mean? Would this cause a no start?
