ID Starting issues

Hey guys Ive got a couple things goin on and was looking for some input.Well first of all im pretty sure my starter is week it doent seem to be turning my engine over fast enough and the result is its flooding and i end up having to push start the damn thing cause even the deflooding procedure wont work cause its not turning over fasst enough it will start sometimes but for the most part i get to push it >Ive checked alll the ground connections and they seem te be good.Next ive noticed recently my tach will just sit a 0 <not working> until the next time i start it.My oil pressure gauge is bad and i was wandering if that has something to do with all of it I have a new instrument cluster to put in ,Iwould just like to fix it all when i get there ya know so any insight would be helpfull .Also Ive read that the tach runs off the trailing coil pack i have a new one to put in as well just looking for some more points of veiw

My car is a 88 gtu n/a . Mods are cold air intake, racing beat downpipe & pre silencer and new RC feul injectors and thats about it.The motor is a Atkins and it only has like 20,000 miles on it .I have not done a compression test I will do it however i wouldnt figure i needed to since the engine is nearly brand new I really think it may be the starter Ive had my local professional shop tell me that very thing but im still skeptical so any insight would be great.

try taking it down to your local parts store they might be able to test the starter for you i know i can take just my starter to the parts store and they can test it also hows the ground going to the block ive had a few cars power everything up fine but the starter cus the ground to the block was crap. just for giggles crank it for like 30-60 seconds then feel your pos wire if its hot like almost burn your hands hot then id say your starter defiantly bad. your cluster and gauge issues should not be the problem. the starter has a direct pos lead right off the battery. also try getting under the car and with a rubber mallet or a handle of something tap/bang on the starter and solenoid sometimes a bad solenoid is the problem.

good luck
