Starting Issues

I have a 1989 GTUs, and I'm now having some starting issues.
Sometimes it'll crank over but when it does, it's very slow and seems to have issues fully starting.
Other times and this is most prominent, when I go to start it, it won't even turn. All I hear when I turn the ignition with the clutch all the way down is a click but it's coming from the clutch pedal area. It used to need a jump to start, now it's like it's dead. I just replaced the battery and spark plugs.
Any ideas?

I would also check the starter solenoid. Sometimes they can get stuck and just click.
