CA RX4 alternator bracket

I need a more powerful alternator and am looking at DC Engineering's 180 amp model that is specified for FCs. I have a 13B from a 1974 RX4. Will an alternator for an FC fit on my RX4 engine? If not what modifications need to be made?

There are a couple of things to work out. The factory RX-4, and any rotary before 1981, used an alternator that was externally regulated. You will need to remove the external regulator and rewire the car to use an alternator that is internally regulated. Folks have put S4 second gen alternators on their first gen RX-7 so it is very doable with a DC Engineering 180-amp alternator.

Do a search in the first gen section and there are several threads about this. Most folks that do this use what is called a one wire alternator to keep it simple, but it can be done with others. There isn't a "How To" so you'll need to do some research and digging outside of the RX-7 forums.

Thanks very much. I'll do the research.

Are the mounting points the same - allowing the DC Engineering unit to be mounted on my 1974 engine/

I don't know anything about the DC Engineering alternator. However, the 3rd gen bracket will fit. I'm using a Banzai 1979-1995 bracket on my 1985.
