Gap between alternator and adjusting bracket?

Just trying to get my alternator hooked up on my project (s4 n/a) but there seems to be almost a 1 inch gap between the alternator and it's bracket. I'm confused because switching the side the alternator spacer is on seems like it would fix this issue but I've confirmed on other threads that it indeed goes on the firewall side (and then the pulleys wouldn't line up anyways). I've attached a pic to further explain, is anyone able to give some insight to what is happening? Is this gap supposed to be there?

if the pulleys line up, just bend the bracket?

I suppose that might work, maybe I'll just put a spacer in the gap instead. I thought I must've been doing something wrong since it's just the stock alternator, bracket, and an Atkins double pulley

i have a bucket of parts, and if i ran into that, i would have mixed up the alternator bracket with some other one.

Is it possible you mixed up the alternator adjuster bracket with the air pump adjuster bracket?

Embarrassingly enough, it turns out the bracket was simply bent as j9fd3s pointed out thanks for the suggestions
