rough idling

rough idling

what would cause my car to idle rough? when first crunk it surges all the way up to 6 or 7 thousnd rpms and then drops down way past one and then dies

my car does this too sometimes but all i do is give it a rev and it doesn't die..
i have a 88 rx7 vert by the way

ive tried that if you rev it it automatically kills it i thought it might be bad gas but ive drained all old from tank and lines but still the same thing

the 88 i am looking at does the same thing, only it dies immediately on trying to rely on idle, it runs fine just pops and sputters when it gets around 1k. i was told compression could cause it

it doesnt do it every time its ran it only does it about one out of five times being drove or ran other than that one time it runs great

Try leak test, check TB, voltage and wires. what ems you runing? running a TP?
