Rotory retard
I'm a diesel experienced diesel mechanic but knows very little about the rotary engine. I have a 1990 Gxl 13b. The coolant seals blew so I pulled the motor. The stock Gxl as most of you know is really slow. I have a massive Garrett turbo from a 6.0 powersroke ford diesel. What I'm asking is if there is any thing I could do to this tiny 13b to handle this size of a turbo

im no expert but if its na it will take quite a bit of money as styx said and a lot of fab work as the turbo and na 13b engines are quite different from each other. if its turbo already then someone will chime in with some details and welcome to the club if it is an na engine i suggest reading aaroncakes project tiina build. if it is a turbo i still recommend the read as it is a great build anyhow

Some sort of standalone and a drivetrain swap are in your future if you want to do what you're suggesting. Not to mention manifolding and other bits youd need to convert an NA to turbo. It really isn't that hard if you're adept at fabrication and can work on a car.

The GXL drivetrain, fuel system, exhaust system, and cooling system is designed for about 200-250hp. The stock 1980s EMS should really be replaced too. The "tiny 13b" can be built to produce over 700hp with a large turbo, which means that it can handle more power than the rest of the car. And here you thought that the tiny engine was the weakest link, lol.

Turbocharging a N/A 13B is more of Aaron Cake's specialty. He's running a Garret GT4088 and putting down ~500hp, and did so on a N/A transmission for quite some time.
See "Project Tina" on Aaron's Homepage for all the details. Aaron would be the best one to ask about how your powerstroke turbo stacks up in the nitty gritty details.
