About the best answer we can give is: "it depends".

You see, you won't really know what needs to be replaced until you open it up. The bad thing about this is it takes additional time as you have to pull the engine, tear it down, inspect/clean everything, order what you need, and then wait for the parts.

The other option is to get a more complete kit in advance and hope it covers you. However, there may be other parts that need to be replaced that aren't in any "kit" (such as rotor housings).

On the minimum side, you may get by with just a soft seal kit (cheap) and reuse the hard parts (depends on the wear of the engine and how long you want the rebuild to last). On the other end of the spectrum, you may need to replace nearly everything. For instance, maybe the coolant leaks because the engine was overheated and the housings are warped. The hard parts may also be worn out.

Rebuilding on of these isn't really difficult. It takes mostly basic tools. You will need a big socket (2-1/8") and a lot of muscle to remove the flywheel. The bolt on the front of the e-shaft can be a pain too. However, if you take things step-by-step, you shouldn't have a problem doing the rebuild. You may want to buy/borrow a rebuild video and watch it a few times and see if it looks like something you want to do.
