Rebuild question

I have a '79 rx7 with a 12a from an '83. It used to smoke over 4500 rpm & I changed to a heavier oil. Since it still smokes at ~6,000 rpm's, I have come to the conclusion that I need to do at least a partial rebuild & replace oil seals.

I know the oil seals are bad and need to be replaced. My question is: Should I buy just what I need, or buy the most complete package I can and replace everything in one go whether it looks worn or not?

If that isn't a "how much money do ya got?" question, I don't know what is...still, let's hear from the 12A rebuild guru's what they think the minimum parts would be needed in a rebuild for a guy not concerned with getting another 100k out of the motor. Rebuilding an engine, transmission or rear-end are the last things I've never done with a 1stgen RX-7. I usually just replace them.

Thanks... well, if I knew where I could find a good solid engine for not much more than what it'd cost to rebuild, I'd be willing to do that as well.
