NY Rebuild help and options.

Well i've become a rx7 collector lately finding deals left and right. I have now owned a 88 vert and sold off after i got what i needed just a parts car and my 89 vert that is almost complete for a good show car and summer car. Well I just got a great deal another 89 gxl for the great price of my extra set of bbs vert wheels and 200 needs a rebuild and some other pieces i have laying around.

This one im building for speed and a good amount of track time. Drag and Drift. I already know about what im doing with the body and suspension and all that stuff.

But im going to have to rebuild the motor and since i know how they work and have time not really in a rush and have my own personal shop to work out of i can take my time. so i am going to do it myself. But since its a gxl platform i was wondering if i'd be able to drop in s5 turbo 2 rotors to bring the compression down and then build the turbo kit after. Or if i would have to use different housing to match the turbo 2 rotors. Also would i need a turbo 2 e shaft so id have the whole assembly and then use the n/a housing would that work?

And as for porting i wanna be in the range of 450-550rwhp so i was thinking of just a semi bridge or something along those lines maybe just a large streetport.

and lastly what about the 6 port motor would i need to change to make it a turbo and still have the power i want will i have to remove the 6 port acuators and emissions in order to have room for the turbo and everything.

I searched for a little and im sure its been covered i dont post much reading most of the time with limited post works for me but i really couldnt find anything about making the s5 6 port n/a into a turbo motor and still run higher boost numbers into the mid and high teens like around 15-18psi.

Thanks in advance

now i'm not an fc owner and don't know a WHOLE lot about turboed engines so i could be completely wrong on this. the non turbo engine is 6 port, the turbo engine is 4 port. u could put the lower comp rotors in the 6 port engine but i think the it would be better to just drop in/build a T2 engine. they may handle boost better and probably produce more power than a 6 port with T2 rotors would anyway.

That's my main problem too is that I don't know if I can just block off the 6th port part and remove the acuators therefore kind of turning it into a 4 port. Or I might just do a really intense all n/a build but I would be able to achieve the hp goals I want.

Simplest way is to do the full TII swap with a rebuild. There are plenty of links in the 2nd gen FAQs to get you started. Aaron Cake has a thread somewhere on turbocharging the NA engines. Blocking off the Aux ports isn't an option as it would restrict/reduce air flow too much.

Sorry, I'm not familiar enough with the S4, S5 and TII variations. But you might be able find some answers here.....
