Questions: Tubbing/300hp/Insurance/WaterInjection

I know tubbing is real popular with the corvette guys, but has anyone tubbed their street rx7?

What would be some mods to get you in the mid 300s, i know you'll need a good turbo setup, IC, bigger fuel injectors, street ports, and i can't really think of anything else off the top of my head. And how much would it cost to be in the mid 300s?

For the 18 year old male rx7 owners, how much is your insurance and do you have a clean record?

And i know water injection helps the engine run better, but does it help with gas mileage? i'm not too worried about the gas, but i thought it was an interesting question.

I know it's a lot of questions, but i want to do my homework before i try to get an fd some where down the road.

Thank you for replies

*No. Not for a street car. Wouldn't make much sense IMO.
*For safe mid-300 whp,...radiator/cooling mods, exhaust, intake, IC, injectors, fuel pump, higher boost (13 to 14 psi minimum), porting, standalone ECU (tuned), colder plugs, iginition amplifier.
*Can't say. But I think it will also vary depending on the area of the country and urban, suburban etc. So responses you might get here will also vary.
*No, it does nothing for mileage or power. It's primary effect is to reduce knock, so that would be something you should to add to the above mod list for mid-300 whp.

If your starting completely from scratch and doing the work yourself...probably between 3.5 and 4.5k without the porting. The only practical time to do that would be during a rebuild for something else.
On the positive side....most owners by now have removed the pre-cat for a downpipe and have some type of cat-back. The majority also have installed a larger all-metal radiator and an aftermarket intercooler and intake.
With the FD you need those basic mods FIRST. You want have a solid running car with no boost or cooling issues before adding significant power mods. You didn't specify, but I'm talking rwhp. Remember that 350 rwhp would be something just over 400 at the crank. And for those goals, I'd also suggest some form of auxillary injection as well. Check the FAQs in the 3rd gen. section with particularly attention on reliability mods.
