the pump on the left?

I have a question....there is a pump on the passengerside of the motor that. I am assuming its a smog pump/emissions pump. Is it safe to remove this? Also is there a block off plate I need to fabricate when I take this off?

yes its the smog pump all that its used for is recirculating exhaust gases and also cools your manifold there might be a plate you have to convert i installed a turbo 2 intake on mine so yes it is safe to remove i did and it ran fine my guess on the plates is yes you will have to make at least one

The air pump can be removed, but removal means you can't run a cat and you will not pass emissions. Without knowing what year RX-7 you have I can only give a general suggestion. If you remove the pump you will also need to remove and block off the ACV, and as I mentiond you need to loose the cats.

The airpump does not recirculate exhaust gasses.

without the airpump you'll burn through that cat even with block off plates, at least that's how it is on the FD

It depends on the cat. Some of them will handle running without the air pump. Most generic cats will plug up in no time without the pump.

Remember, running a few thousand miles is not a test. Running 75K is.

You'll want to remove the air pump if you went with the full RB exhaust as it's now unnecessary.
