pulsation damper
pulsation damper
i was reading about people having fire caused by bad fuel pulsation dampers so i looked on ebay to see how much a new one would cost and wow 130$ usd then i saw an eliminator bolt for $25usd what i want to know will my motor still run fine with the eliminator bolt or does this damper really serve a purpose?
Yes, it serves a purpose. It's there to protect against pressure pulsation in the rails, which means fuel pressure will consistently stay in line with what the FPR is trying to keep it at. If fuel pressure spikes or dips for a moment, the amount of fuel injected will change. It just keeps fuel delivery more consistent.
Some people do remove the PD and go with a banjo bolt, but really $130 isn't that bad for a part that should last another 20 years. The only reason they fail is because of age. If you really can't afford to buy new, and your existing one isn't leaking, it's still got some use left in it. When they develop a leak, the smell of raw fuel from the vents will be a dead give away.
