so i just finished installing a holley red fuel pump and a carter 500 cfm carb with my new racing beat holley/carter intake manifold, and we got the car to fire and run, but the fuel pressure is all over the place, it varies randomly from 3-6psi, i do have a regulator installed, but am not sure what the problem is. this is on a 12a. my friends car has the identical setup, except the carb is a 600 and the motor is a 13b. im really puzzled as to what the problem is, maybe the fuel pump itself needs a chassis ground ??? i dont know, but would really appreciate some help.

 

hmmmm.. checking your Grounds would be a Good start..

 

is your fuel pump above or below the fuel tank?

 

the pump sits right about level with the tank, and i finally got the carb rebuilt, and its running alot better, especially since i did the heat range 7 and heat range 9 plus instead of just 4 heat range 8 plugs.
