oh wow really people? i don't think it's that hard to understand.
i think he meant the pros an cons of owning and fb.
i have to say for pros
-light weight.
-cheaper to build then fc and fd's.
-done right can be a nice car.
-do to many new parts for it can be a really fast car.
cons
-hard to find in mint condition.
-chances are a lot of things have to be changed because of the age.
-the specs of the car in stock shape is completely outdated to current cars .
if i was ever going to build a race car only i would probably go with the fb, just because down the line if i ever wrecked i know i would be ok with it.

Pro - Its an FB
Con - Its an FB
seriously though:
Pro
-A very light car, power to weight is decent and can be improved readily with new parts available
-You can find one pretty cheap
-"cheaper to build then fc and fd's" YES
cons
-"hard to find in mint condition."YES
-"chances are a lot of things have to be changed because of the age."
-"the specs of the car in stock shape is completely outdated to current cars" ie more money to get it to perform like you want it.

Fb's are the only factory carb'd rx7s not including the se. I would keep that in mind.
If you have emissions, they should be exempt, so I suppose that is a pro.
Other than that, its hard to know any pros and cons without knowing what you're going to use it for.

so why waste the time to post what the pros or cons r if it doesn't matter? IMO the pros of owning an fb is lighter weight and easier to work on of any gen. haven't found any cons of owning one. 12a can be boosted just the same as the 13b. the 13b in the gslse is also N/A. if that's what u want then get one. the usual bolt ons like carb, intake, exhaust, will gain u an average of like 20% in power. for more, u'll need to do a build and port job. then of course a turbo is next for even more power. and as for what goes bad with age on an fb, everything, and also holds true with any vehicle. it's more of what ur willing to accept and fix when owning an older vehicle.

Lives on the Forum
Lighter than any other model
Easier to modify
Cheaper to modify
Can be made into a great performer for the fraction of an fc/fd
The only fc that ever beat me in an autocross had a big V8 and the course suited it

Yeah, I'll say two of the cons to an FB is the lack of rack and pinion steering, and lots of steering boxes have a lot of play. But, with some $$$ and time and motivation, they're far better than a FC or FD for cost and coolness reasons (sorry FC and FD guys). On the '79 SA's you have an external regulator so that's another expensive *** thing that goes bad after a while. SA's also have some lame features, such as having the hood prop on the passenger side, no full-time voltmeter, no oil press. sender, etc. But SA's and FB's are best in my opinion, and pretty easy to work on.
