Exclamation Problem 1985 RX 7 GS

Yesterday my RX has starting acting strange. For the first 10 minutes of driving, it performs perfect, but at that 10 minute mark, things start to go south. The engine starts to run really rough, not being able to get above 4.5k RPM and eventually i experience a complete power loss and the engine wont start for more than a few seconds.

Compression test checks out, bought brand new spark plugs, checked all the fluids, same problem. It also has only 41k original miles on it.

Edit: the car was also just recently serviced

No injectors on a GS. Check the condition of this hose.

Clogged injector won't affect an 85 gs unless it's had an engine swap lol. Coils maybe? Or ignitors?

yes i would get it to do the symptom, and check fuel delivery. possible the pump doesn't work when its hot, either due to age, or debris. i have had a fuel filter that rusted internally, and it had similar symptoms, the drive to work would be fine, but on the way home, it would gradually loose power. a GS, has a plastic fuel filter, but its possible it or the pump is clogged

also it would be a good idea to put a timing light on it when its doing its thing, if the spark goes away, its a probable ignitor.

if the fuel and ignition systems check out, my next step would be to look in the exhaust, maybe there is a failing cat or something

It sounds like your fuel pump may be going out, or the system is clogged. It's not keeping up with demand and the bowls are slowly draining. Try and kill it with the air filter assembly off and check the sight glasses to see if the fuel level has dropped.

Where there's cake, there's a bakery. Might be time to clean out that tank

Couldn't hurt to put one of these in the line between the hard line and the carb.

Fantastic quote!

This was something I considered also, I bought and installed a cheaper temporary plastic see-through fuel filter on it to verify. So far been running it all day and it's still clear. Also put in a total cleaner additive into the fuel tank to flush it out.

Also the PSI gauge wouldn't hurt either, thanks for the help.
