That sounds kinda crazy. It may be a procedure if you've got a sick, as in poor condition, FD but not a healthy one or even a modded one. It makes no sense to me but I'm a 1stgen guy playin' with the Nikki carb still, so I defer to the 3rdgen guru's if this is a necessary step for the FD owner.

that just sounds like absolute rubbish. i admit that i'm in the habit of blipping the throttle once before i actually turn the key (and i do that with everything i drive). i have no idea where it came from, but it's now subconscious for me. however, as for it being necessary for a car, even with all the FD's quirks, i doubt it.

the engine will flood if its not at normal operating temperature and the revving it at 3 grand is only necessary if you went on a quick ride or something where the engine wasnt running long enough to warm up. it happens to my second gen. a lot but im not a 3rd gen guy either so it may be different.

some ppl use turbo timers which allow the engine to continue running after the switch is turned off to give the turbo time to cool down. otherwise it's perfectly safe to shut the engine down from an idle. in the future try to refrain from asking rotary related questions to non rotary owners.

That is a trick to prevent it from flooding if your engine is susceptible to doing so because of low compression or an improperly tuned car with over sized injectors etc... Right before you shut it off you stab the throttle real quick and shut it off. I don't think it is necessary to do that on your FD unless it has those problems.

An FD engine in good condition will not flood under normal conditions. If yours tends to flood, it's best to never shut down the engine before it's warmed up (tends to happen moving around in the driveway).

then I was like OH! brake rotors...
yeah, that's just the flood-prevention procedure, if you ever take the car to a body shop or a mechanic tell them about it, otherwise they'll call you asking why the hell your car keeps flooding on them.
