Ported wastegate to big

I ported the waste gate and it was to big for the cover, what types of problems would this cause?

I have been told that you need to weld a washer on the flapper that will cover the hole

You will no doubt lose some or all of the boost if the wastegate remains partially open. You can try welding large washers to the "flapper" to cover the openings.

It will hurt spool up time, so you'll be making boost later in the RPM range than normal. You should get a washer welded onto the stock door to cover the hole.

EDIT: great minds think alike?
