FL Oil Pre Mix 93-94 FD3S

I am planning on purchasing a FD3S - I currently own a RX8 which I pre-mix. How much should I do on the FD3S?

Most of us recommend about 1 oz. per gallon with no OMP, and about .5 oz (1/2 oz.) per gallon with a working OMP. You can search in the 3rd Gen. technical section for more threads if you want to confirm the consensus.

1 oz/gallon translates to 1:128. This ratio is ideal for aggressive street driving and track without OMP. I have seen people using 1:160 to pass smog on OMP deleted cars.

Yeah...I’ve never broken it down into ratios. And I’m not baking a cake at the pumps. I guesstimate using the windows on the side of the bottles of 2-cycle and knowing about how much gas my car will take to fill up. I’ll err on the side of more oil. But then I don’t worry about emissions where I live and have a working OMP with WI.

^not sure the weather has much to do with premix ratio

If anything, make sure you run a quality 20w50 year round in Flawda, I prefer Idemitsu synthetic

There's going to be no right answer here. Some smart people here swear by the fancy rotary-specific oil. Some, like me, don't. I use marine ashless 2 cycle. Seems like it's usually PENZOIL. But this is an enthusiast's car and an enthusiast's forum. We don't always make decisions on what's cost-effective or the best value. If the expensive versions like PROTEC R and Indemitsu are worth it to you, get 'em. I can guarantee you I've pissed away money on a sillier crap than that.

I was asking a owner about premix he had no clue what it was his fd is in almost perfect condition I didn’t find any issues and it’s low miles so I assume his omp is in good condition.

If if I buy it how you know if omp works? And should I start premix it?
Car doesn’t leak or smoke or have any heating or starting or idle issues

The OMP is controlled by the ECU. If there is anything wrong with the OMP a Check Engine Light (CEL) will appear on the dash and the engine goes into 'limp mode', where timing will not advance if vacuum is not present in the intake manifold (i.e. no boost).
