Oil Pre-mix guys, I have a question?

SOmetimes when I warm up my car in the morning, smoke will eventually spill out my exhaust. Is this a normal thing? Is it build up on the cats? Or, am I useing to much?
Thanks,
Chris

usually you have to remove your cats before your premix, or they will get clogged

is your omp working? if not, then you may be adding too much oil.

just look into presilencers and resonators if your too loud

Hmm.. Interesting theory considering the stock rotary is oil injected. Care to expand on this?

yes, if your omp is still functioning and your adding more oil, you would be burning an excessive amounts of oil the car was not designed to burn. correct? i cant say from personal experience, though i can recall reading it in several threads on this site that it is recomended to remove your cats before you premix

Why would you be premixing, if your OMP was still hooked up?

I see no reason pre-mixing should kill cats, since there exist 2-cycle motorcycles that premix with cats.

First off TCW-3 Burns completly clean. Motor oil does NOT burn clean in ANY way.

Why would you be premixing, if your OMP was still hooked up?
If your omp is functioning, you are injecting motor oil into the engine, very slowly, which over the years and after serveral thousands of miles will it start to carbon up the rotors, apex seals and slots, oil side seals and slots, etc. Running rich in fuel also makes this matter worse.

you would be burning an excessive amounts of oil the car was not designed to burn. correct?
how much are you using? and what brand?
You will be adding more oil BUT its designed to burn CLEAN and Complete. You do not want to add 1oz per gallon if you are using your OMP. I would try 1/4oz to gallon. The engine IS designed to burn oil in the correct fashin. Mazda simply designed the omp system for ease of use. I don't think all owners back when these cars were on the lot would like to hear that they have to check 2 DIFFERENT types of oil. Most people don't even check the conventional motor oil.

I personally have used about 4 different brands of TCW-3 and none have had any noticable ill effects on the motor.

2 stroke is fine on the CATs if they are working properly. If they are clogged up or not working correctly, fix them or remove them. No matter what oil you burn, if your cats are not working the way they should, they will clog up anyways even if you were burning no oil.

Are there any issues with 2-stroke oil eating through fuel lines?

I use the Maxim Super-M. Works fine. They have 2 versions, one has blue sticker and says smokeless race formula and the other has gold sticker and says race formula without the smokeless part. I run the smokeless stuff. I usually add 12 oz per 9 gallons. I've found that the mix is based on WHP and it's not linear. You should add 1oz per gallon for up to 250 WHP cars and around 3 oz per gallon at the 500 WHP mark. Hope this helps, stephen.

I disagree. When you're making more WHP, you're also using more gas. Therefore, you're getting more premix in there already.

I dont know if my OMP is working because my pressure gauge doesnt work, and I havent install my aftermarket gauge yet. So, I just premix. I was using about 1oz per gallon. Have been doing it for a few weeks w/no issues as of yet. But is too soon to tell I guess...
