Nothing should really come out of the metering oil pump when you remove it or the front cover. The shaft in the front cover slides around a little but that's it. Can you perhaps clarify what you are referring to? There is a little slot on the shaft which does need to be aligned with the tang on the pump, though.

sorry i was at work wen i posted, to be more clear, the small rod that goes into the front cover that conects to the metering pump has a small gear on the end of it, this rod slides around and goes to the eccentric shaft and touches the gear that is used to show the crank angle sensor where its positioned. should it be touching this? should it be slidling around like that? im just not sure how it should be positioned is all. any help would be great! thanks
