There are procedures in the FSM for checking the output of the metering oil pump. It is only adjustable by bending the rod or using shims, so I doubt it is much out of adjustment or at all.

The metering oil pump injects quite a small amount of oil, overall. If you are getting smoke and an oil film, you have another problem.

First pull the plugs. Are they oil soaked or black?

Check the purge system.

If the purge system checks out and you are getting oil smoke at high RPMs or when you rapidly change the engine speed, then it is probably worn oil o-rings.

O rings are Internal,so that would likely mean rebuild.
What happens is the Oil presssure is Higher at High revs, and since the car's oil is hot, it is thinner.
so the oil will bypass the Oil Control rings(O rings ),go into the combustion area and cause Oil smoke out the tail pipe.

Look up "purge system" in the factory service manual (see FAQ).

Before you go assuming the engine is bad, pull the plugs and check for an oil film.
