Oil fill tube removal???
Any one out there know if the oil fill tube is simply pressed in to position. I would also like to know if anyone has any ideas for alternative fill tubes?? The whole point to my question stems from my attempts at making my engine be as flat as possible from the top of the engine to give me more room in my engine compartment in my VW. Thanks for any help...

The tube is compression fitted on a 13b.A little prying and hammerin and you can get it loose and pop it right out off the engine.
If it is too tall for you,you could always cut it down,But you would have to vent somehow,so maybe drill a hole and put a 90 degree barb in the cap?( that would keep things flat!)use that to go to a vacuum source,or vent,or catch can, whatever.

UPDATE
The fill tube on a 13b is just pressed in. Now I'm going to try diffrent ways to minimize the size of the fill point (height). So I'll keep that posted here...
