The positive cable that should be connected to your starter. Kind of essential.

LOL but its been working, i bought the car and i looked under it and its disconnected, it runs fine starts cranks the starters working? which side of the starter does that connect to ?

maybe the previous owner ran a new battery wire to the starter and just left that one hanging.

^ That would be my bet. I think I'd still track down exactly what they did, and also make sure that wire isn't hot. Dangling around down there can lead to it shorting out against the chassis.

There are 2 posts on the starer solenoid and one little clip. One post has a short, large gauge wire connected to the motor portion. The other post should be connected to the battery via another large gauge wire. The clip is for a small gauge wire that energizes the solenoid when you turn the ignition switch. That cable is normally connected to the 2nd post I mentioned.

Since having my car i have gon over wiring a couple of time bc ive learned the hard way that buying a car that is 20 some years old can be dangerous in lots of ways....like dude above said trace the wires

auto or manual? i was thinking it could have been for the manual starter and if it has an auto now maybe thats why. still unsure. rxtacy most likely got it right..
