Nikki Carburetor Rebuild Questions

First, here is where I am on my carburetor. It's been taken out, some hoses seem melted/ripped or just aged.

Tools used:
12m socket
flathead, phillips, and pliars.
GP Sorenson carb rebuild kit
Gunk Carburetor Cleaner
and a toothbrush
About $38 total

here is how it looks right now

Does everything look okay so far?
I heard that most of these solenoids aren't necessary and you can permamently remove them with no problem?
Is my final step really that simple as just aligning the gaskets and screwing everything back, and the carb should run good as new?

My friend is talking about using an air compressor to push brake cleaner fluid through the fuel lines in the car to remove any possible gunk.

Fuel tank is being cleaned out with some remaining carburetor cleaner fluid and then acetone. ( I hear people put gravel in the fuel tanks, but not sure about that. )

One question about the fuel though is the fuel sock, where can you get one of those? Or can you just make one frm scratch easily?

( The white mesh-filter on the bottom )

Looks like you're heading the right way. I used guitar string to pass through the tiny holes in the tubes.
If you're not keeping emissions, you can leave a lot off. Search 'stripped Nikki' or 'stripping nikki carb'.
The sock on the pickup is best replaced by going to the parts store and finding one to fit. It won't look like what you have, but will function as well or better.
For tank cleaning, search "marine clean". I didn't use it but I didn't know about it. I will use it next time.
Sand and repaint the outside o the tank while its out. Also replace all fuel lines.
You're on your way, have fun. It's great when it's all back together and running.

Thanks a lot for the input.
using this guide and two others for strpping the nikki. The rat's nest seems to be gone

http://foxed.ca/rx-7/Carb%20Stripping%20Draft%201.pdf

A few questions about the above guide, if anyone can check it out and answer.
1. The dashpot is described as ". It’s purpose in life is to
stop the throttle from snapping shut immediately if you completely let off
the gas. It gently closes the throttle butterflies for you."

Now if I accidently stop off the gas very fast to slam my brakes (I live on south beach, always happens) would this eventually wear and tear heavily at my car? It doesn't seem to really CUT whp and at the same time doesn't seem to block anything or create more fuel intake.

2. If I'm not mistaken, keeping the dashpot would mean keeping the next part of the strip guide: rear choke assembly.

Cheers
