AZ newbie idle probs

i have a 1990 GXL with 85xxx miles, when i start it in the morning(cold start) it idles at 3k for about 10 secs, then slowly drops down to 2300 rpm, then very slowly drops to 1600 rpm(this very slow drop takes about2-3 mins, then i let the car idle for almost 20 mins, it warms to opp temp in probly 10 min after starting but wont go below 1600 rpm.
right now i have the dashpot out for easier acces to the fast idle cam, ect. when i look with a loittle mirror the fast idle roller HAS seperated from the cam, so i try to push the roller down, it goes nowhere.
when i put load on the engine, headlights, ac, ect. the rpms increase slightly like they should.
when i drive the car, somtimes at red lights the idle will drop to 600 rpm then evenly and uniformly bounces from 600 to 900 rpm. but most of the time the rpms stay near 1600.
ADVICE PLEASE

could be a funny ground somewhere if the fast idle wont fix it. my turbo will idle high until i hold clutch and put it in gear then it will drop and stay there. and somtimes will do the surge **** like alot do. sometimes they just have crazy idles

i tried depressing the narrow range tps while at idle
it did nothing untill i depressed it about half the way, then the rpms droped but it uniformaly bounced about 200 rpms
i am thinking the new tps and a new bac(when i get one) should fix that prob. cause just about everthing else checks out fine.

My RX-7 rev's up to 3000 RPM every time I start it when cold
Yep, part of the accelerated warm up process. Start the car with the clutch pressed in, and the car in gear if you don't want it to do that.
^ Found this in the Gen Specific FAQ, remembered seeing something on it yesterday. Below is a link to the page for your reference.

i have teh same problem, had been tried everythig else, looked for vaccum leak, cleaned throttle body, tested and cleaned air by pass valve, found out the resistant of my tps isnt right, so i am looking to buy one and have my replaced. hope that solve my problem.
