newbee needs help...

Hi my name's Dave,I'm new to the group and to be totally honest i havn't even bought my car yet.I was hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge thats available on your forum.
Im pretty sure that i'm going to buy a 3rd gen RX-7 and i'm definately going to import it myself, but which one do i want?
I've seen plenty that i like the "look" of and ,to me,it makes sense to buy one that has been modded, loved and had money lashed at by someone else....but...obviosly they are going through the auctions for a reason and i don't want one that blows up on the way home.
I am trawling through Rob Robinette's site ,which is great, but i could do with a friendly nerf onto the right path to start....can't believe i'm soooooooo close to buying one

If you are talking about importing, your range of cars available to you are way different to the majority of users here. In the US the 3rd gen was a 1993-1995 Model year car I believe, in J-Pan it was 1993 - 2002.
