FL NEW to the FD RX7 but I have a few questions

Hello All,

I am new to the rx7 world as a hole and I am happy to be here. Iv'e been in the Toyota game for a while now and decided to step away. Disclaimer I still like them so don't get me wrong . Long story short I am looking at making a fun car street and track. I see that this will beat your wallet down from time to time when you have a "kinda" direction. Which is fine but I am looking for a few ideas or approaches some of you all are doing on your build/ finished project. This post can really be about anything on the build but where did you start? Did you change your mind along the way and why... Where to you do your research? Or do you just ask questions..but to who?

I have a 1992 RHD FD shell. I have gotten a lot of parts here and there and I am trying to build something clean. Then I had to freeze for a bit and felt like I wanted to reach out to the community. Id like this to be a new informative post and I know there are gray areas. But if you can please feel free to share your story. Thanks again for your time everyone and hope to hear from you all too.

Your post is pretty generic in what you are looking for advice in, so I'd say you really need to read all of the stickies in the 3rd gen thread for one. Start off by doing all of your research on those, and determine an actual plan that you want to follow. These cars are expensive period, no matter what direction you go in. A fun car on the street and track can mean many things depending on who you are talking to, for instance, do you mean you want to track this car? What kind of track, auto-x, road racing, drag strip? On the street, are you looking for this to be your daily driver, weekender, etc etc. All these decisions have to be made before someone can give build ideas. Additionally, check out the build threads to see what members have done and are currently doing for direction. If you want a simple, clean stock car, then look up the reliability mods and jump from there. Again, tons of info on the sticky threads, as this forum has been churning out data since 1993 on the 3rd gen, and a lot of it is still actively compiled here!

Thanks for your input there. I know it was generic, I wanted to get familiarized with the people here on the site. I have read the stickys but from my experience the last 5 years have been drastically different in the car community as a whole. I figured I would throw out a little something to generally spark a conversation. I've looked at the FB pages, YouTube , and recommended web pages and this was my last stop. I hope this helps a bit more on the idea behind my post. But thank you for responding to me on here.

What did you end up building?

Unless you have any particular questions, I'd check out the build threads based on what you say you're looking for. A lot of build details and pictures in those threads that you just aren't going to get on this one.

I'm restoring mine to stock-ish, and it would still take me several pages to go over all the work I have done in any kind of detail. People who have substantial mods could probably write a book.
