Need some help and guidance, please...1stgen problem.
I have an 85 Rx7 that I have owned for many years and recently because of a hose mishap, overheated and now needs a rebuild. I have found out that Mazda no longer sells rebuilds, and that some of the parts (rotor housing) are not available new anymore. My question is, does it make sense to rebuild with a used rotor housing, can a new one be acquired, or am I better off looking for a running engine and taking my chances. I guess that is more than one question. I'm really not sure where to start. Any help would be much appreciated. I really don't want to get rid of her if I can help it, but it doesn't make much sense to hang on if the options are so limited.
Thanking you in advance for your time.

Having done everything else but never any heavy rebuilding of the drivetrain components to include the engine shortblock, the transmission or set-up new gears in the diff, I defer a good answer to the 1stgen guru's who do this stuff before breakfast.

Lately, I've been more likely to throw a used motor in and take my chances. But I'm restricted to a stock motor by the class I race in, so no porting is allowed. Porting would be a major reason for me to rebuild a motor, so until I can run a port job I'm just sticking to used motors.
lol, that sounds bad. I'm only on my 2nd motor, the original having coughed up an apex seal at 213,000 miles.
