my 7 is smoking

On a cold start, the car smokes like crazy but after a few blocks it clears up. why? It is the blueish smoke so i know its burning oil that it leaves in with the gas on shut off, but why is it smoking so much? Also... am i supposed to add oil to the gas every once in a while? My buddy had an rx8 and said he had to do that. I didnt know if 13b's were the same or not.

The car is a 90 N/A rx-7

Thanks,
Dean

The old control rings allow some oil to seep into the combustion chambers. As the engine gets older, the amount can increase. Don't worry about it, as long as it doesn't do it constantly.

And adding oil to the gas is called premixing. If the metering oil pump (MOP) is functional, there's no need for you to do this. The MOP pumps engine oil to 4 oil injectors on the engine, which lubricate the seals. The people that premix have removed their MOP.
