Lack of power HELP PLEASE

Hey guys new to rx7 club. Alright so my cuzin bought this 1987 rx7 5 speed non turbo. She bought the car not running. So she took it to a local shop.. They told her some seals were out in the motor because they thought it was fluding.. So i went to look at it. tryed to get it running by unpluging the fuel relay.. And throttle open and crank it over to try to get it un fluded then plug the relay back ing and tryed to start the car. Didnt work so i pull started it well it ran until we stopped. So i got back and took out the fuel pump because thats one thing the kid before my cuzin owned it replaced new. Come to find out the kid didnt wire the pump right so i placed a battery in back hooked up the pos and neg and went to start it. didnt start right away after cranking and pumping the gas pedal a few times. It started so found one problem. Now when i let off the gas pedal it would shut off.. So i took it for a ride down the road. As i drove it i notied it had vary little power held it wide open and i slowly gained speed. I even dropped it down a gear did not work. So my thought was its missing on a cylinder. By the time i got back it was pitch black so i went to pull the battery out and glanced at the plugs and wires i notied one wire on the top right was not all the way on.. I wanted to start it up to see if that was the problem but my uncle told me to quit for the night. Told me i could have the car for $500. So before i buy it i want to try to fix it before i buy it.. Any help would be great.. And there were a bunch of new parts the kid before my cuzin but on the car not sure what but im thinking the plugs by the looks and the plug wires, also the car has no air box nor air cone its just open. Could that have anything to do with it? I dont know anything about Rotary motors.. I know my 2.0 16 valve dohc turbo dsm motors.. THANKS

It's likely someone sold the car with a blown engine. Compression test it before going any further. There are no cylinders on a rotary engine. Instead you have 6 rotor faces that seal at the tips (apex seals) and sides (side seals) to form combustion chambers.

If it ran good once you pull started it, then the fuel pump wiring was not your issue.

1. Replace the fuel filter.

2. Verify that the spark plugs are actually sparking.

3. Assuming this has a carb, look in the little windows on the front and back to check the fuel level. The level should be at the halfway mark.

So check those things out and then post back with the results. Good luck.

The fuel pump and filter are new.. I read on other threads that it could maybe be plugged cats.. or need tps adjustment whatever that is.. or secondary injectors disconneted.. And the MAF sensor..
