Issues with radiator fan. Help please

Having issues with my radiator upgrade project.
Found some idiot had dropped a wrench piece in the shroud for the fans. Turn out it lodged in between the fan and the motor causing the fan to operate in an unbalanced manner. I’m not sure how long this was there but after removing the piece the fan is still off kilter from its mount. The old radiator has markings where the one fan blade traveled. SMDH. Anyway, the fan was still working when I removed the radiator but I cannot get the fan to right itself because it’s stuck on its metal circle. Worse is I can’t get the fan of its spindle and I don’t want to damage the motor. Help! Anyone no how to get fan off without damaging the motor? I’ve tried tugging, light rubbed mallet, PB. But no luck. I don’t want to buy another motor. My car has only seen 45k miles.

What year car? Regardless, your post count should allow you to post in the tech section of the appropriate generation.
For an FD I found this....https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...otors-1013024/

Many thanks. It’s an fd. 1993. I searched for hours and found nothing. Smh. Will try again today. Not feeling good about this one.

that fan looks like it is pressed on with possibly a key. I would not heat it up has the plastic will separate from housing. I would soak around that threaded are with PB blaster and let it sit for a couple of hours inside where it warmer. I would be patient then put the nut on to cover threads then give it a quick it with hammer. I have run into stuff like this before and patients is better then dishing out some cash.

Appreciate the encouragement. Issue happened because someone (prior owner or shop) dropped a wrench bit in and never bothered. It lodged between motor and fan. Anyway I am glad I found it. Found a used low mileage full fan set and I am now doing the koyo n-flow upgrade. Lots of things to learn. I’ve had several rx-7s but never wrenched. Koyo rad is a beast to get in there. Lots of tricks!

Ok glad you got it figured out! well have fun getting your hands and fingernails all greasy, besides the slip hand of wrench and bash it into something Sharpe or hard, then trying to get your breath back after 20 seconds....LOL and in the course of throwing something at your car! use some good mechanics gloves they help soften the blow and keep your hands in better shape. Have fun learning.

Well I’ve done some stuff but this is next level. Doing inter cooler next. Radiator is in. No one tells you it’s easier to install the radiator then the fan assembly after. But hey. You learn. Put them back in separately!
