Issues Issues Issues lol... just went non-seq and problems.

Ok so I just went non sequential yay!

Here are the mods we did while we did this conversion;

Downpipe
Midpipe
Greddy BOV
Capped CRV
Removed Air pump
Install Apexi Boost Controller (AVC-R)

Mods done previously;

Koyo Radiator
Apexi dual intakes ( stock hoses still used)

*Rest of car is stock including the catback w/ muffler

......Symptoms........

Oil leak

Seems like its coming from the dipstick, I pushed it on all the way, noticed it was fairly loose, when I drive it around and boost a bit, pop the hood and i have Oil everywhere, and noticed that the dipstick popped off and was just resting on the stem. So I pushed it again and drove around and again it was loose. Is this common? or a possibility?

MANY!! BLUE SMOKE! MANY!!

When driving normally and while warming up from a cold start, there is very little smoke if any at all. After the car is fully warmed up, if i get on it and boost fairly hard, as soon as i let off on the gas a small to very loud backfire sound accompanied with TONS of blue smoke that seems to pour out for about 10 seconds. This again only happens after i let off on throttle after boosting through a gear or two.

Small and Very Loud Backfires

sometimes at idle i get baby backfires, and also while regular driving, (usually when shifting) but if i get on it hard then either throw it in a high gear to coast or even neutral to slow down on occasion i get a very very loud (gunshot) backfire... and then of course many many blue smoke pouring out for about 10 seconds...

Not getting full boost

We set the boost controller to 10 psi and im only getting around 8 psi

anyone have any ideas?? suggestions? advice? etc... Help is much appreciated

Easy one is the popping dipstick. There are 2 nipples on the oil fill neck - that's the vent for the PCV system. It HAS to be vented, you can't cap them up - if you do, you pressurize the "crank"case, car smokes, dipstick pops out.

Mazda way to do it is the bottom nipple goes to a vacuum line running to the primary turbo inlet. The other nipple is capped - stock it goes to the PCV valve, but '95s ditched the PCV and capped the manifold/oil neck.

Better way is to run the nipples to a vented catch can. This catches any fumes/vapors/oil and keeps it out of the intercooler pipes. I run a Jaz catchcan, works great.

With non-sequential, the car will be MUCH louder at idle/cruise, and sounds you didn't notice as much before (like small lumps in the idle) are much more pronounced. Welcome to non-sequential .

Hey thanks Dale thats great info about the caps.. I figured out a way to keep the oil dipstick in also, i just went down to Home Depot and picked up some small rubber O-rings and pushed them on, that seemed to keep it in nice and snug.

My biggest problem I would have to say is the excessive backfiring accompanied with EXCESSSSSIVE amounts of blue smoke. So much smoke that it trails me for about 2-300 yards, and is so thick that i can barely see the car behind me.. any ideas?

side note, I have noticed also that my idle sits around 1300-1500 even when its fully warmed up.

I'm guessing you removed the throttle body coolant lines but didn't do something about the thermowax?

Dale you are the man.. ok so basically we had the top nipple on the pcv valve, and the bottom was hooked to a hose that was capped. so we uncapped that hose and let the bottom nipple vent and wollah, no more smoke! thank you guys!
