SOLVED - How to change FD RX7 1993-1995 USDM Bumper Turn Signal bulbs
Hi all,
Hopefully a simple answer to a simple question. How do you pull out the housing to replace the parking and turn signal light on my stock bumper. I feel ridiculous asking this but couldn't find any answers when searching.
I unscrewed the single screw and got the side of the housing out a bit, but didn't want to snap anything as it wouldn't budge more with increasing force. In the factory manual, in the body section, it specifies there is a specific way to remove the "combination light" and guides me to the electrical troubleshooting manual, section E - SEE PHOTO BELOW. NO LUCK FINDING THIS DOCUMENT on the various websites that have the FSM.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

Visual solution to removing the housing
Thanks CR-Rex for your quick response. I tinkered after my initial post, and it's a bit more than pulling out.
I attached photos after I removed it for future reference. The inner edge of the light housing is "hooked" into an inset of the bumper.
See attached photos:
From electrical troubleshooting manual to see inset of bumper
On this shot of the passenger side turn signal housing, you can see a curved L-shaped edge on the right lower corner. That piece hooks into the bumper and holds the inner side of the housing in place against the bumper.
Another more obvious angle:
In order to release the housing along the inner side, you have to push the inner edge into the bumper as you pull the outer edge, effectively rotating the housing counterclockwise on the passenger side/clockwise on the driver side. This releases the L-shaped lip from the bumper inset. Helps to keep the screw partially in to handle the housing.
At that point, it's straightforward to replace the front parking light and turn signal
As other members suggested, I put in 168/194 LED into front parking lights. Once I get the relay sorted to address hyperflash, will replace turn signal with 1156 LED equivalents, per this thread:

Comparison:
Sorry for the blurry shot. LED to incandescent comparison
Hope this helps someone in the future!
Thanks to Dale Clark for his post on 8/4/20 with the 1994 Electrical Troubleshooting Manual, which showers the inset in more detail and gave me better direction of how to release the housing.

S8 Combination Light - Changing Bulbs/Harness
Anyone have similar procedures for the S8 (99 Bumper) combination light? I have reviewed the Japanese manual updates but could not find specific instructions. Looks like you have to undo the nuts at the back to remove the combination light. This seems pretty tricky due to tight spaces. It seems to me you may have to remove the headlight assembly to comfortably get at the lamps to change them.
I recently bought an led upgrade for the combination lamps and harness on ebay. Looking forward to having brighter lights.
