It's supposed to idle at ~3k for 17 seconds, then drop to 1.5k for awhile if all the cold-start related equipment is in place. Use the FSM or a haynes manual to read up on how to adjust idle speed. You should ONLY adjust idle on a fully warm engine.

yea...i went through the haynes and it says touse the screw ontop since mines an NA, Ive screwed it as far as it can go and it now stays at 1800 ~ 2000.

if i put my foot under my gas pedal and lift up hard the idle starts lowering.
or if i pull on the throttle lever on the TB it will drop. i only need to pull maybehalf a centimeter for it to drop to 900 flat...but i dont even know if that is the problem.

There is a step before the turning of the idle adjust screw which requires the jumpering (bridging) of two wires located near the leading coil. The two wires that make up this particular plug is the "Initial Set Coupler." Trying to adjust the screw on the throttle body w/o the plug being jumpered will make the attempt to adjust the idle fruitless.

Pulling on the gas pedal or pushing on the throttle plates shouldn't drop the idle speed. Check/adjust your throttle cable's slack. You should have a small bit of slack so it's not completely taunt.

i didnt have slack at first, and even after lossening it, it hasnt changed.

Take the throttle cable completely off the linkage, see what you get then. If it idles properly, it was the cable. If it still requires you to push on the linkage to get it down to normal idle, the problem is in the throttle linkage; ie. sticky shaft, weak return spring, etc.
