ON going crazy!!!!

hi i have a 1985 gsl-se completely stock 13b. my problem is it will not idle.I know this subject is beaten to death but i have checked the tps, vacuum lines, bac valve and compression all of which are good, but still will not hold a idle.:wallbash.It starts right up and if i feather the gas it will stay at about 1500 rpm. If i don't touch the gas it sputters out at about the same.It does have a bit of a miss(i don't know if it's related).the only thing i can think is a fuel problem Any help would be greatly appreciated as i start a new job next week and it's the only car i have.

You may have an injector that is locking open.

Pull the plugs and compare them. If one shows totally black and one shows sort of brownish, the black one is the problem rotor.

I pulled the 2 trailing plugs and they both seem the same (brownish black). I don't have a fuel pressure gauge but i'm thinking it could be the fuel pump It seems extra noisy and might not be putting out enough pressure. Does anybody know if this would cause my problem or have any other suggestions?

in any car low fuel pressure will cause a struggle at idle at least. you may not have to go through the trouble.. check the fuel filter first and see if its gunked up, a clogged filter will definitely cause starvation at the injector.

Well i crawled under the car this morning and put a new filter on but made no difference(the old one looked new but changed it just to be sure). i decided to take it down the road to see how it ran under load . At first there it seemed to be a little sluggish with a slight miss but when i turned around it had no power and was missing hard. i found if i leaned into the gas it was alright with a slight miss, but when i put it to the mat it just died. It did not seem like it wanted to go over 4000 rpm either but i did not push it (didn't want to harm the motor). So this is where i stand
1. starts right away but dies under 1500 rpm
2. rev's fine in neutral (perhaps a small miss)
3. no power under load and misses hard
4. won't rev over 4 grand under load but will in neutral

I am really at a loss i have read a 1000 threads and tried everything but to no success. Oh ya i also pulled all plugs and they are all evenly colored.

Does the car still have cats? If so, they may be clogged.

first off i would like to thank everyone that has given suggestions i have solved the idle issue which was a combination of several thing(partly from working on it when i was exhausted and forgot to tighten the air intake to the throttlebody)

so on to the next problem when i accelate over quarter throttle it starts missing hard? i know the actuaters for the ports are not working would that have anything to do with it? also the tps ohm reading only climes to 4k at wot
