gettin my car running again.
so i had an 87 rx7 given to me for free and i couldn't pass that up. its a gxl model and after changing out the plugs, oil, coolant, and battery, i got it started up. after burnin through 1 year old gas and gettin to somethin fresh it runs great. then i noticed the clutch didn't work at all, the pedal drops to the ground. seems the slave cylinder is shot (theres fluid all over it from under the seal). i figure i might as well replace both cylinders.
heres where my question comes in: i noticed that the shifter felt like crap, all loose and jiggly. i removed the center console bits enough to remove the shift lever and noticed that there were no bushings present and the "well" that the shifter sits in was full of fluid. i can find the bushings easy enough, but whats with that fluid in there? is that a sign of a bigger tranny problem?

The fluid is transmission oil. It is there to lubricate the shifter.
Instead of burning through the old fuel, the proper way would have been to drain it. Injector problems will likely result.

thanks for the help, man. i reseached and found out that that was lubricant in there. as far as the injectors, i'll have to cross my fingers, draining the fuel would have been a good idea, but the car was pretty much totally on empty and i poured about 6 gallons of fresh in there.
