Fixing the past

I need to post more, so here's one of my latest issues with a previous owner of my car: (I'm learning so much from their mistakes)

First off, car is a 1984 GSL SE, mild street port, full Racing Beat exhaust, AC, power steering, and rats nest delete, relocated battery, cone air filter with OEM intake, most all accessories wired to switches.

I was wondering why my battery wouldn't hold charge very long (it's relocated behind the passenger seat), and I finally looked at my charging system wiring. Trying to simplify here: Black wire from battery to seat belt bottom anchor, easy. Red battery lead has a scissor switch, main red wire runs underneath the car from behind the driver's seat to the transmission, somewhere, probably starter? will check when it gets warmer. Here's where it gets a little silly, The alternator has what looks like a 16GA wire feeding back to the battery! Many switches are fed through the alternator circuit, too (headlights, led flood lights, and windshield wipers).

Plan of attack is to send a ~2GA wire from starter to the battery, and seriously consider which wires need replaced besides that. Also, I bought a 100amp starter recently, so will be swapping to that, as well.

Any tips or things I've left out, please feel free to comment!

Thanks!
