fd running lean
when i step on the gas my car just stalls. my fuel guage goes to lean then the car stops at 1000 rpm. plus im not boosting at all its running under bar at 0. also the car is always low on coolant i think its being burned off in the motor cuz its not leaking. so do i need a new motor or rebulit.
check for smoke out the tailpipe, and do a champagne test. Alternately pick up a $20 compression tester and check the compression. If your consistently loosing coolant though start saving for a rebuild.
@chris: the car is all stock no mod. there is white smoke only if i dont start the car in couple of weeks n i also have to jump start it cuz i guess it need alot of power. but only when i havnt started the car in awhile then smoke even under the hood lil bit. and it sometimes lasts 20mins

Has the car ever been overheated?
If so, at some point after it's been overheated (could be weeks or months) the low coolant light will come on and it will start to consume coolant. The culprit is an O ring. The coolant is getting by the O ring. Yes, unfortunately you will need a rebuild.
The average cost on a rebuild will be in the neighborhood of $2000.00 for labor to pull the motor out and put the motor back in. That does NOT include the cost of rebuilding the motor. That parts and labor will cost in the neighborhood of $5000.00 depending if you can reuse the rotor housings and rotors or not.
You can buy a factory fresh Mazda motor for $3800.00. Retail on the motor is $6800.00. PM me if you need to know which dealership has them for that price.
Expect another $1000.00 in gaskets, hoses, motor mounts (if broken), clutch, etc.
If the ECU engine wiring harness is so dry (due to excessive heat) that it needs replacing, it's about $700.00.
The reason I know these numbers, is because I'm having a new factory Mazda motor put in my car at this very moment. I get it back next Thursday!

You may have to travel a bit, but there are MANY rotary shops in California. You should feel lucky as many people across the US need to go to another state to find someone who knows anything about these cars.
