NM FD with Parallel Twin Setup Boost Question

I have a 1993 FD that has had the stock twin setup for parallel running. It looks like it was done fairly well at a shop that used to be here in ABQ Rotary Performance.

At some point the previous owner was likely poking around and removed some of the capped intake stuff...long story short...I got a great deal on a running 93 FD that is now doing pretty well. Capping the holes and installing the included manual boost gauge and GReddy Profec B boost controller now shows me hitting about 10PSI at 65% (GReddy boost setting). This was running the quarter mile so I was WOT through 3rd and barely had time to shift to 4th before I ran out of track. Does this sound right? I only had time for 1 pass at 85% (GReddy boost setting) and I didn't get any higher boost. Any information you can point me at would be great. This is my first turbo charged vehicle and I'm learning a lot weekly.

I'm not sure I understood what you were trying to ask....

Does what sound right?

Regarding the turbo setup, we usually refer to it as sequential (stock) and non-sequential. Check the FAQ thread for further details on that and common terms we use here on the forums.

It's really a question pertaining to a boost controller like the GReddy Profec B, but I assume it relates to the twin turbo wastegate as well since the Profec rates itself in percentage of the turbo capability. So, the basic question, does 10psi sound right for a setting of 65% on a boost controller like the Profec B.

Thanks for getting clarification.

This is the best thread I have found on Boost Controllers-> https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/electronic-boost-controller-comparison-chart-952767/

It may give you some more insight as to what is going on. I've never used a profec B so I cannot comment on typical numbers.

10 psi is the boost level for a stock car with a stock fuel system.

You might be able to take it up to 11 or 12psi but at 12psi on a stock ECU it will cut fuel and you'll get close to the limits of the fuel supply.

I just got my first fd also. from what I have been reading, don't push it past 12 psi on stock set up or things will go wrong shortly after doing so. I checked my power fc yesterday and I'm running about 9-11 psi of boost. at 4k rpms i'm at around 8 psi. Hope this helps with what you were asking

Thanks for all the insights. Now I also know that I should get the FC before getting the GT35R I've got some insurance money coming since someone decided to try and rub me on a curb. With what I save on doing paint and body work myself I am building a wish list...new #1 is FC setup.
