FL FC v.s. MK3

So, a few days ago, I almost got my hands on a MK3 supra with a 7m-GTE engine. I really like these cars but i love the Fc3s as well. i was wondering what would be your suggestion for a first car, unbiased of course, because I could buy either one. I like the styling on both, and the supra is rarer where i live, but i like the smoothness of a rotary and the sound as well. I am undecided and any suggestions or criticism is welcome. thanks in advance.

Your first car?

We need more information...like...what can you afford? What about maintenance? Are you prepared to spend anywhere from $50-300 at any given time just to keep the car running? Is insurance cost a factor? Do you need it to be super reliable or is having down time on the car acceptable? So on and so forth.

The real question is do you have a team? I believe the name Shinken is open. Also you should name your car...Megumi is a nice name, glowing literally.

Mods...please don't kill me...I just had a flashback to that very old, very awesome thread.

I've heard those Ma70's with RSR Ex-mag exhausts on them. ( buddy of mind had one) The engine sounded awesome. I love the sound of inline 6's. And personally i'd probably look into getting a Targa topped Ma70 as a curiser. But that woudl be it. They are heavy and have a long wheel base. So my question would be, what would you be looking to do with each car. If drag racingis your thing. Then the Ma70 would probably be the cheapest route ( If in case the engine, turbo and the rest are in good shape) A !jz would be a nice swap to have in it. The rx7 I woudl take if I was looking to biuld a solid track car.

When I say track car. I mean one i'd dog everyday on the course without fear or car of breaking down. And if it did. I'd fix it and bring it back out for another event.

So it is up to you. Both styling are something I like, both are from the same era, and both have a rich history and decent perfomance support.

Just last night my buddy and I took a stock MK3 and a stock FC to battle on Forza 3. No matter the driver the FC would always win.

The Supras are nice cars, especially if the interior is cherry... but the fact is they are just big heavy boats that have the turning radius of a Camaro. They were basically Japan's muscle car. They are rather reliable though I'll give you that, but at the same time they are harder to work on, and parts are harder to find.

My vote goes to an Rx7.

I could beat you with the mk3, funkjaw (but in GT4 haha)

but honestly the FC was considered a hot rod in it's day too right?

more like a hot rod that could turn (easier)

but yea it's all about your opinion and what you can find and willing to pay for

I was looking to buy a MK3 supra so read up a bit about them. Make sure your 7MGTE has recently replaced headgasket and torqed down right. They have a tendency to blow, even on stock boost.

I prefer the body lines of MK3 over FC. Also, if you blow the 7MGTE, you can swap in a 1JZ or 2JZ.

the only real reason the mk3 comes onto this is because my cousin has a JZA70 and it looks absolutely stunning and an extra bonus of 600hp isnt too bad. um, i can spend up to $5000 to get the car, and wish to build the engine and keep it reliable. i am not really looking for a track car, just a good looking rwd JP car with lots of parts around if something gets broken, and to slaughter these damned people with slow civics that think they are fast. also, if this means anything i like racing/drifting in the mk3 in forza with the 7m implant.

If it's down to the Supra or the RX-7 it comes down to this:
The Supra is more reliable than the RX-7 (but not particularly reliable as it is an old car) - but hard to work on - but easy to find a mechanic that will play with it. It will provide you with more torque, so it will 'feel' faster, but it's a pig on twisty roads & corners.
The FC RX-7 will more than likely be 'down for repairs' more often than it's up and running, but it's pretty easy to work on - though in many areas most garages won't touch them. a Stock FC is gutless in the low end and will get clobbered by most Hondas at a stop-light, but (if sorted out) it's sublime at speed and you will find that you will press down on the gas on the corners instead of the brake.

FC > MK3 in all aspects. Period.

However, the choice is really yours... as because it sounds like you are buying a car not just based on which one is better. At the end of the day, if you have money either car will be awesome, but more importantly, a part of you. Whatever you choose keep us posted!
