Do I need a turbo timer or not?

I have 93 fd r1 stock tune. Do i need a turbo timer? Isn't it bad for the engine because when the idling after key removed, fan is not on. What do you guys think?

If your setup is both oil cooled and water cooled, you should not really need a Turbo timer.
My version of a Turbo Timer is to sit in the car and listen to the rest of the song on the Stereo, then shut the car off.

Nobody needs a turbo timer. If you downgraded to a crappy Mexican Ebay turbo that is not water-cooled, and you race around town like Tanner Foust, and have a dire need to slam on the brakes, stop the car, and immediately jump out of the car to do whatever, then you may want a turbo timer. Otherwise, it is a waste of money, an additional point of potential electrical failure, and makes your car easier to steal. Even with a crappy Mexican Ebay dry bearing turbo, running the car for about 1-3 minutes off-boost (driving through a neighborhood, parking lot, etc.) will be enough to cool down the turbo prior to parking the car.

Due to the thermosiphon effect, the coolant should circulate through the turbo even when the engine is not running. The thermosiphon effect involves natural convection in which the heated liquid becomes less dense and is displaced by the more dense cooler liquid, causing a flow movement for as long as there is a significant temperature differential.

I think that if the car is still running after 20 years with no turbo timer, then obviously it is not needed.

Normally what I do, is run the car easy for the last few miles to whatever destination I am going to.

No timer needed at all if you practice this.

Last few miles is overkill. Unless you do repeated full boost runs and suddenly pull the car over and have an uncontrollable urge to shut off the engine....you don't need a timer.
I use the time I pause in the driveway waiting for the garage to open fully.
