In the production records Type R Bathurst R (Series 8 Version VI) 650 units
Type R Bathurst (Series 8 Version VI) 2174 units
both built 2001 & 2002
I have searched everywhere to find the difference between the 2 models, I can only find decal a sticker on the type R Bathurst R
can anyone help, no doubt it will be something simple but I willingly take the risk of looking dumb.

With all of the mystery that breeds misinformation about anything Rotary or RHD, it's not a dumb question at all. Different MSC codes, F158-2CR for Bathurst R and F158-2CW for Type R Bathurst. Taking a quick glance in the JDM catalogs, in terms of equipment, the Type R Bathurst got front fog lights while the Bathurst R did not. Otherwise, same seats (Cloth pattern D), wheels/tires, strut bars, etc on both.

 

the difference is that a 2002 type R bathurst R Does not exist.

the 2001 bathurst R was a "limited edition" edition with the carbon look interior bits and the Showa suspension. The 2001 came in 3 colors only white blue and the special color sunburst yellow.
The 2002 type R bathurst had the showa suspension but no carbon interior bits and its not a limited edition.

As for the Fog lights, They were optional on the 2002 Type R bathurst
