FD model part numbers

Mazda’s part number system is 4 digits -followed by 2 digits and 3 plus digits.

While the 2 digits is most important in representing the system the part is from, i.e. brakes, seats ... and the last digits give the definitive item it is also useful to refer to the first four digits as they represent the car or engine model that the part was first used on.

This number gives model year milestones along with accessory versions.

Of interest to us are US models:
'93 FD01 - FD05, (FD03 = R1)
'94 FD15-19 & FD30 and to F114, (FD16 = R2)
'95 FD31- FD36 and to F114, (FD32 = R2)

JDM models of interest are:
F100 - "Efini"
F111/112 "RZ"
F128 - Mazdaspeed harder suspension
F138 '99 to '00 models
to F149 end of series
plus F175 - specific Spirit R parts

Note F151 on ... other than F175 starts the RX-08 parts along with FE01 ....

This shows that the RX-8 was in production prior to them even thinking about a Spirit R special.
