Damage assessment help please
I bought my 1988 GXL N/A a few months ago and have loved it since. The car and I have gone through a fair amount and it's taught me more than any book has. The car is stock except for my 522 +25's.
That being said, I seem to have faceplanted a brick wall.
I was driving home from work when I smelled something burning right as I was getting home. I got to my parking spot and noticed smoke coming out of my hood. I killed the engine and popped the hood and my engine was on fire. The fire wasn't particularly huge and was contained to the engine itself. Minor damage to the inside of the hood.
I'm no mechanic, but I see that the wires are all frayed, rubber is melted on hoses, and I doubt the engine will be re-useable. I don't want to part with this car and throw it away just because of this so I would like to get a new engine for it.
I am planning 2 routes - haven't decided which:
1) Get a rebuilt 13B S4 Engine + Harness
2) Get a S4 13B-T S4 Engine + the wiring harness from a A-Spec S4 TII along with a matching transmission, flywheel, clutch, etc. (It seems most JDM 13b-t packages come with those anyhow)
I was hoping through some pictures (or if someone lives in the area and wants to see it first hand) to get some help from everyone to see what all I would need with a new engine. Would getting a new engine package cover it all? Or would I need to buy more things? Please know that posting here is not the first thing I'm doing. I have read, taken notes, and burned into my skull information from Rotary Resurrection, other build threads, etc, enough to make my head explode.
Attached is a picture of the fire, a video in which you see a large portion of my soul fly away as the fire department hoses down my car, and a video of the post-engine wash - in that order.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me.
P.S. I'm the Korean guy and the man making the commentary is my roommate.

I don't see a reason why the engine block itself would be damaged. The heat didn't seem extreme enough to melt anything. With a new used upper intake, injectors, wiring, hoses and associated parts that were burned, it should fire right up.
The fire was likely caused by a fuel pulsation damper failure.

I was thinking the same thing about the pulse damp.
So I get the upper intake, wiring, and injectors
I see some places that seem like that they had hoses, but I'm not sure what is for what exactly. I wish I had a model engine I could compare with haha

Find your model in the FSM's there will be diagrams of electrical , hoses and fuel system . Might help you figure out where things go . Like Aaron said it takes a fair bit of fire to ruin the engine

Advice: equip your rx7 with at least one fire extinguisher. I have one in each fc and TWO in my FD!
But as far as fixing the damage you just need to tear everything down to the shortblock and replace the damaged parts
-this will definetly include the wiring harness, manifolds (these might be refurbishable but probably easier to just buy another used one), TB, fuel injectors and the solenoid rack. All of these parts can be found used for quite a reasonable price on the forum. S4 nonturbos are notorious for the fpd leaking problem. You definetly want to order and install a brand new fpd IIRC theyre about $120ish bucks. Plan on getting used injectors cleaned at RC so that would be about $110. I think a reasonable estimate would be $550ish dollars in parts to repair (thats including the new fpd and the f.inject cleaning, new omp lines, new water hoses) BUT if you ask around you could probably get many of the parts for cheap/free from other rx7club members. Matter of fact I think I have some injectors and other parts I can sell you for cheap cuz I really need to clean out my garage, pm me if nterested.
