Coming out of storage help
Hey guys, My 93 FD is coming out of a 10 month sleep and wondering if theres anything special I should be doing or checking, before she went to sleep all of her fluids were changed minus the coolant cause it was only 3 months old. battery was disced and wd-40's my brakes and all other major exposed metal.
Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks!

Pull the spark plugs out, pour marvel mystery oil in them and let it soak for a few hours. I let mine soak for a week, but it did not help it. These motors do not like sitting for long periods of time. Hope it starts.

^ so you just recommended something without knowing if it works or not?
If the fuel has been changed and the engine was properly fogged before you stored it, then there shouldn't be that much for you to do. Simply check all the wiring (for rats nests), tires & bushings (for dry rot), and make sure the fuel lines are purged, and your car should start fine with a fresh battery. Just make sure you have oil pressure and fuel supply so that you know it is safe to start.

The only reason it did not work for my car is because my rear rotor has no compression due to bad apex seal(s).

^ I am operating on the assumption that the engine was properly fogged before storage. Also he said this car was stored for 10 months, not 10 years. While what you said has some merit, there is no reason to use MMO over 20w50 unless you like wasting money. Unless it was stored improperly I wouldn't bother doing this unless it flooded when trying to start it up.

Hey thanks for the replies,
No the engine was not fogged because I have a friend who goes and starts it every month or so and lets it sit for a solid 15 mins while it reaches proper operating temp, I added fuel stabilizer so the gas should be fine, you think I should replace it or no??
And when I start driving her im gonna drive it like im breakin in a new engine for the first couple hundred k.
What ya think?? Don't need to do anything really?

Hey aaron, what will the oil look like milky white if theres water in it? Just to be safe ima change it anyways but if the oil looks fine you think it will be ok for liek 100 k from storage to my garage? Other than the water in the oil can that starting it for that amount of time damage anything else :S, now im all worried. Oh btw I talked to him and he said he usually let it run for like 25 mins :/ better than 15.

Running the car for 15-25 minutes at a time creates condensation from the housings heating up and cooling down all the time.
If you noticed any white milky substance ( on the oil cap) that is the condensate. Also known as Lung Mustard, lung butter, white crap..etc!!
Change the oil !
oh and look at www.aaaroncake.net to see the info on how to store and Unstore the car.Aaron has a good write up on it!
