catalytic converter.

um can you lose power if your catalytic converter blew a whole in it

Blew a hole where? Out the side somewhere? If the cat got hot enough to make a hole, it is probably plugged up. And that would cause power loss.

the catalytic converter caught fire and made a whole.

If it caught on fire, it's a safe bet you should replace it.

Isnt it better in any case to run your 7 decat? (if your emissions law allows this)

Running decatted is advantageous from a heat and throughput standpoint, especially with the cars getting up in age and the possibility of a blockage. Unfortunately most places require you to pass an emissions test which is impossible to pass without some kind of cat.

Cats do quite a bit for sound control too. You'll notice without a cat that your exhaust will retain a lot of the "tin" sound. I'd replace it with a hi-flow cat.

Ok so im working on my 7 now. im taking off the catylatic converter so ima run on decat for now. but most likly going to replace it for aa high flow cat
