Which cat back exhaust do you recommend for a FC

I want some power gains but do not want an exhaust that is too loud or too quiet. Something that sounds deep and of course does not drone 😁
I want dual exhaust. What do you recommend? Is the APEXi too loud? Is the Racing Beat too quiet?
thanks. How about HKS and Greddy?

Watch some YouTube videos or find locals with the same exhausts.

Exhaust sound is really subjective. I’ve had the racing beat catback when I was 18 and it was really tame. A nice audible purr, sportier version of the stock exhaust sound. 16 years later I prefer tame sounding exhausts.

My current setup is a loud greddy/trust turbo back I got for cheap, but I run an apexi exhaust control valve so I can shut it ~75% and put put around town in low loads. The exhaust valve is like a throttle body, and mechanical controlled by a cable like a carburetor choke. When I want it to be loud or I’m going to get on it, I open the valve. When I’m warming it up at my house and cruising through my neighborhood pretending to be a civilized law abiding citizen, I have it closed, and ironically it’s more quiet than stock. I did change the exhaust “throttle plate” to titanium as the rotary egt’s weakened & bent the original carbon steel plate. Interesting option.

It is 2025, we have the technology, we can build it.

Thanks. Is the Greddy/Trust louder than an A’pexi in general?

I am really interested in this valve. I have researched some and kind of thought most would break easily with rotary heat.

I am curious if the motorized ones would work? Tuning one with a custom module or aftermarket ECU to open based on back pressure or exhaust pressure would be great.

My old daily had a similar system in the stock mufflers. Except the valve was a custom tuned plate and spring. Maybe something could be done similarly to this with a rotary exhaust?

I don't want to hijack a thread. If there is a thread with more information about your current setup, that would great. Thanks!

As a side note, some states do not allow the valves. My state is a little vague with the law. "Nothing is permitted that makes the exhaust louder." I will ask my inspection station when I finally get mine inspected.

I got the mechanically controlled “throttle body style” for this same reason of high rotary egt’s. Read about the electronic motors failing years ago.

It’s been fine for daily and track use. I have moved it to the rear by the muffler just to reduce temps a bit. I ended up moving it to the muffler/axle back flange to reduce temps and it’s been fine with the titanium plate.

Sure, check your legalities on valves but it’s an option for adjusting between quiet and loud, free flowing systems. You really have to have a good look under the car to see the “throttle body” exhaust valve. I’ve seen other options for spring loaded mufflers, I just haven’t tried them or seen them with rotary egt’s.

Thanks, I will likely leave out the in cabin control at least for now and use it to fine tune back pressure if needed, when I go with an aftermarket exhaust. I want to keep the ACV in my N/A FC3.
